Are you giving a baby gift for a new arrival in someone’s life? Then don’t forget a gift card! Often times instead of giving baby gift cards, some people put a tag on the gift bag or a similar gift tag on the gift. This is simple and easy and certainly not inappropriate for a gift, but baby gift cards are more precious than you may know. As a mother, I received many wonderful gifts from my baby showers and well wishers, but the things that I still have after the toys were played with and packed away and the clothes were stained or passed down, the thing I still have are all the cards from people I received during the pregnancy. So if your not crafty or are simply a on a tight schedule, it’s time to make a trip to your local store to look through the amazing variety they have. If it’s a close friend having a baby, you might be able to find just the right gift card that reflects the type of friendship you have. If it’s someone you don’t know very well, finding a card that reflects you or the parent’s personality should be pretty easy.

If you’re the more creative type, you can make a greeting card from home. Using a pre scored card stock is a blank canvas to make your baby gift card that is very personal. Using a variety of cloth, stickers and the millions of things found in scrap booking supplies. If you haven’t been to one, go! They have tiny cloth baby clothes hanging from clotheslines, tiny metal rattles, and anything you can think of. You could then type up your letter of well wishes and put it in any script you like and then print it on anyone of a thousand choices of printed and solid color paper.

Now for the most important part of your baby greeting cards, what you write. Regardless of you relationship with the parents, there is always something you can share that others can’t. Write about how you heard the news of the new baby’s arrival. Share a funny moment of being with mom with baby was kicking so hard she couldn’t eat, or maybe the time the baby had hiccups that you see shaking here swollen belly. Whatever the experience, big or small, it will surely be something mom will forget about in many years and baby will never know about unless they have a baby gift card from you to remind them.
