When you find out your having a baby, there are tons of decisions you have to make. One of the most important things you will decide is what you baby will be wearing through the first through years. I’m not talking about all the adorable outfits, I’m talking about baby diapers! Think about it, they are going to be on your baby from their first day of life until they get potty trained. Today’s market is flooded with baby diapers, from the highest end of disposable to the basic cloth diaper. You will probably get a small stack of diapers from the hospital, and if you have a baby shower, you will get most likely get a free assortment of baby diapers to try out.
Let’s first assume that you’re going to be using disposable baby diapers since it is by far the most common choice. They come with lots of little gimmicks that can make things cleaner, more comfortable and easy to check when your not sure if the baby needs a change or not. Most of these choices are simply a matter of what works best for you and the baby. Some babies are allergic to certain brands which will obviously move them out of the choice list. Aside from that it really is best to try a small package of each until you find which baby diapers do the job the way you want it done.
If you going to go the other route and use cloth baby diapers, you have more choices than you may realize. The standard cloth diaper is still easily found and even if you don’t use them for diapering, they are great burp cloths. You can find them in a large variety of prints and patterns that could pass for the bottoms to a cute top, rubber pants are no longer the choice of cloth diapering parents. They also have inserts that help baby get through the night and staying dry. And of course this is generally consider the earth friendly choice. But if you make this choice be prepared to have a regular load of diapers every day or two. So even though you’re not filling up the trash, you are using lots of water and detergent. Either way you go, your baby diapers are a decision that you can make with the focus being on your baby and you.
